Luke 2:15 “When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Slowness is not usually rewarded in our culture today. No one says, “You know what is amazing about Mike: He moves so slow!” We don’t cheer the slowest runner in a race or reward the slowest worker on our team. However, if we want to make room for Jesus this Christmas season we need to learn to slow down.

This time of year can be overly busy. Family gatherings, company work parties, year-end goals, and shopping for gifts can overwhelm our schedules. If you are like me you are often tempted to squeeze one more thing into your schedule. It is seasons like this that it can seem impossible to make room in our schedules for Jesus.

This is exactly what the shepherds did however, when they heard about Jesus. Scripture says that they made time for Jesus and that meeting Him filled them with joy.

How about you today? Do you need more peace right now? Do you feel overwhelmed by the busyness of the season? When is the last time you have made room for Jesus in your schedule?

Take a moment to read and reflect on what God did when a group of shepherds made room for Jesus in their lives in Luke 2:15-20 and imagine what God do in you.

God Bless,

Mike
