Ephesians 6:12 “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
A few years ago my computer got a virus. I don’t know where or how I got it, but the effects were evident. It ran slower, windows would randomly open, and it was almost non functional. Luckily, I was able to take my system to our IT manager who was able to diagnose the unseen problem and remove it from my system.
This can also happen to our hearts. Spiritual viruses enter into our hearts and go undetected until effects are evident. Maybe we lash out in anger or lose our temper. Sometimes we don’t notice what is happening until someone asks us, “What has gotten into you?”
In Mark 5:1-20 Jesus confronted a man who was deeply influenced by a spiritual virus that was destroying his life. The condition stole this man’s hope, killed his identity, and destroyed his community. But Jesus brought this man freedom and gave him a new purpose.
How about you? Is there evidence that a spiritual virus may be affecting you? Have you prioritized something other than Jesus in your life? Where is your identity set today? Is there something controlling you that you can’t break free from?
Take a few moments to read and reflect on the amazing work of Jesus in Mark 5:1-20. Ask Him to demonstrate His power where you need it today! And live a life that is free of spiritual viruses.
God Bless,
Mike
