Mark 6:31 “Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
Sometimes the pace of life can get out of control! Have you every asked yourself, “What am I doing?” or “”Why am I constantly in a rush?” This weekend as we celebrate Labor Day it is important to remember that we were created for rest. Many of us have bought into the myth that, “I’ll rest when the work gets done.” The problem is that the work never is done! Jesus knew what it felt like to be driven by a busy schedule and modeled for us a healthy pattern of hard work and rest. Rest rejuvenates us, it prepares us for what is next and can set the stage for God to break through. In order to develop a healthy rhythm of life recharge daily with sleep and time with God, refresh weekly and set aside a day for life-giving activities. Renew each season of life by making time to get away and get perspective.
How about you? Are you running on empty? Have you found a healthy rhythm to life? Is your pace suitable for the long haul? Are you missing something important because your pace is just too fast? Do you need to rest?

God has created us with the need to rest because he wants us to trust Him. It is not all up to you. Trust the Lord today with your work, your pace, and trust Him enough to rest.
Happy Labor Day,
Mike
