The Good Life: Vacation
Ephesians 5:15 ”Be very careful, then how you live - not as unwise but as wise.”
I love vacation! You probably do too! There are few things better than breaking away from the work and stress of everyday life to get a little rest and relaxation. On a good vacation it feels like time moves slow. The days are packed with memories with those you love and the “real world” seems far away. When I think about the Good Life I think about vacations. The only problem is that the challenges of life do not really go away. They still exist back home, but we just get to escape them for a few days.
I wonder how many of us treat God like a good vacation. We pray a little, worship a little, escape the problems and stress of our everyday life and hope that an hour with God a week will be enough to get us through. In Ephesians 5:12-21 we see that the Good Life that God has for us is a life that overflows into every moment. God wants us to live a wise life where we learn from our mistakes. God wants us to be present in the struggles of life and does not want us to try to escape our problems.
Is there a challenge in your life that you are avoiding today? Have you created a habit of escaping problems through alcohol, technology, work, or entertainment?
God wants us to learn to lean on Him through the Holy Spirit, in moments of stress and struggle. Take a few moments to read and reflect on Ephesians 5:12-21 and learn how to live the Good Life God created for us.
God Bless,
Mike
