Overcoming Skepticism
John 20:25 “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
There is an old saying that goes “Seeing is believing.” But this is not always true. In scripture many people had the opportunity to see Jesus and chose not to believe. Biblical faith is a trusting response to Jesus that leads to worship. There are many reasons we doubt: our sinful nature and desire to lead our own lives can get in the way. Also, our lack of spiritual maturity: the faith of a 9 year old will not work for a 49 year old.
In order to face doubt we must first know where it is coming from. Intellectual doubt needs answers. Emotional doubt needs healing. And relational doubt needs a supportive community.
Where are you in your faith journey today? If you are doubting today are you willing to look for answers? What kind of doubts do you struggle with?
All of us struggle with doubt from time to time. Continue to seek Jesus and your faith will grow.
God Bless,
Mike
