John 13:14-15 “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

I love the show, “This is Us.”  It is great to watch a family living out their values through the challenges of life.  Just like the show, sometimes our families do this well, and other times, we miss the mark.  In John 13, Jesus uses the image of a family to describe those who follow Jesus, and one value of a healthy family is service.  People in healthy families anticipate the needs of others, they pitch in, and are humble enough to ask for help.

How about you?  When is the last time you served someone else?  How have you lowered your ego, desires, and need to be recognized to lift someone else up?  Think about how many times someone has served you this week versus how many times you have served others?  Is the ratio 5:1? 10:1?  How is this impacting your soul?

Take some time to read and reflect on John 13.  Notice how Jesus lowered himself to wash his disciples’ feet.  Look at those around you today.  How can you serve others in the same way?
