Taking It Personally
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Has anyone ever told you, “Don’t take it personally”? It is never good to hear that, because no one ever says that after a compliment --- like “You have a great sense of humor... but don’t take it personally.” “You did a great job on that presentation…but don’t take it personally.” No, it’s usually after something stinging, like, “It’s totally your fault that we lost that account. Don’t take it personally.” When someone says, “don’t take it personally,” they are usually using it as a way to take the sting out of what they just said.
But when it comes to our faith there is something that we should take personally. After Jesus rose from the dead he pulled together his disciples to give them a mission and they took it personally! He said: “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20.) This wasn’t a mission just for the church or a select group of professional ministers, it is a mission for all of us and when we take it personally this mission leads to a more meaningful life.
You were saved by God to serve, not sit. And if you want to take it personally you need to know that you are uniquely crafted by God, placed here to make an impact, and the opportunity is waiting!
How about you? What is your personal mission? Who has God put in your life to serve? Make a list of ten people you know that are far from God today and commit to praying for them daily. God has a great mission for you to be a part of.
Take is personally!
God Bless,Mike
