Strong at the Broken Places: Facing Reality
Ezekiel 3:11 “Go now to your people in exile and speak to them. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says,’ whether they listen or fail to listen.”
Sometimes we would rather not face reality. The other day, a “memory” picture came up on my social media page. It was from 10 years ago, and as I looked at it, I noticed how much younger and more fit I looked! All these years, I felt that I wasn’t changing, but one picture made me face reality!
God called Ezekiel to speak to the people of God during a time when they did not want to face reality. They needed to face the reality that their relationship with God was broken. They had failed to obey God, and as a result, were living in exile. So, God sent Ezekiel to shake them out of their denial. There are times in our lives, too, when we need to face reality. Sometimes we would rather ignore the truth, but it is only when we face it that we will see the path forward.
How about you? Is there a falsehood or lie that you have been holding onto? Are you in denial about something that God has brought to your attention? Do you give yourself excuses for things that you won’t give grace to others?
Take a few moments to read and reflect on Ezekiel 3-5. One of the first steps forward is facing the reality of today.
