Jonah and Me
Jonah 1:2-4 “Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.”
Have you ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels? There are times in life when we can feel like life is standing still. Sure we are busy with activity but it just doesn’t feel like we are getting anywhere. It is often in these moments that God is working on our character and trying to get us to move in another direction.
In Jonah chapter 1, God called Jonah out of the comfort and prosperity he was experiencing in Isreal. Jonah had prophesied that Isreal would expand her boundaries, and it happened! Isreal was in an economic boom, people were getting wealthy, and Jonah was a celebrity. Then God asked him to do the unthinkable. Go to Nineveh and speak against their wickedness. He did not want to do this and so he ran the other direction.
Have you ever had a moment when you knew the right decision threatened your comfort or well-being? Has God ever called you to do something you did not want to do? Today do you feel like every step forward is followed by two steps backward?
Take a few moments to read and reflect on Jonah 1. Is there an area big or small in your life where you know you are running from God? Turn around today the best adventure of your life starts with just one step towards Jesus.
God Bless,
Mike
