Romans 10:17  “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

Are you a good listener?  Few people have the natural ability to give others their full attention.  One leadership expert reminded me that the average person speaks about 120 words a minute while our brains can comprehend 480 words a minute.  This leaves 360 words a minute where our minds can wander.  This is why it takes effort to give someone your full attention.

It also takes effort listen to God.  In John 10:27 Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.”  So how can we hear God?  First, we have to believe that God wants to speak to us.  When we open our hearts to a conversation with God we need to ask him to speak with a receptive attitude.  We can often hear God’s voice through the Bible, and impression in our spirits, or through the voice of others.

How about you?  When is the last time you gave God a good listen.  Often our prayers are one-way conversations.  Is He asking you to “do” something today?  Is He asking you to “be” something today?  Will you make the space to listen to God?

Take some time this weekend to quiet your mind and listen to God this weekend.  Read His scripture and listen.  You might just hear it.

God Bless,

Mike
