Mark 9:24 “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief”

There are times in life when it is difficult to fully trust God. In Mark 9, a father is desperate because of a need in his family. While encountering Jesus, he asks if Jesus can heal his son. Jesus responds that “everything is possible for those who believe.” This man gives an honest response that I have thought many times. “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”

This week at a CBMC Trusted Advisors meeting the host challenged us to create an acrostic for the word fear. Many of us are wrestling with some level of fear because of the unusual year we have faced and the uncertainty of the future. Here is what I came up with as I thought about this season of life.

F: Faithful

E: Enough

A: Amidst

R: Resistance

As we walk into a season of uncertainty let us not cave to fear. There are times in life when our belief is challenged. Maybe you can relate to the man who looked God in the face and said, “I do believe! Help my Unbelief." My thought for you is to be faithful enough to take the next step. In a culture that challenges or even resists, take the next step in a moment of fear.
