Ephesians 1: 18-19 “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”

Have you ever wanted to know the future? We as humans are fascinated with the future. We try to predict it, shape it, and even control it! Many of us spend significant amounts of energy worrying about a future that never happens. So, what is next in our lives? What does the Bible say our future looks like?

In Ephesians 1, Paul reminds us that our future is secure and bright. He challenges us to look at life with spiritual eyes to see the good things that are right in front of us.  For example, from time to time, I’ll look in the refrigerator for something I want to eat. I’ll ask my wife, Rachelle, where it is and she will tell me to “look, it is in there.” I’ll tell her it isn’t, and she will walk over and pick it right off the shelf in front of me. I couldn’t see what I was looking for even when it was right in front of me!

The same is true with our future. Paul says we can persist in hope as we look forward to the inheritance God has for us in this life and eternity. Also, we can access His power and don’t have to do life on our own strength.

Are you missing the good things God has for you today? Put on your spiritual eyes and give thanks. Are you trying to live solely on your own strength? Ask God for his strength to overcome the challenges you face today.

Take a moment to read and reflect on Ephesians 1:15-23 and remind yourself of the future God has for you!

God Bless,
