Luke 8:24-25 “The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. ‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples.”
My wife hates horror films (To be honest I don’t like them either). However, every time a horror film trailer happens to come on Television she cannot turn away. She actually locks in and will repeatedly tell me how frightening and horrible the movie looks! “I would never watch that!” She often says after giving it 60 seconds of her full attention!
Fear has a way of capturing our attention. In many ways fear is faith in reverse. It grows when we focus on a potential problem or disaster rather than God. In Luke 8 the disciples did just that. They experienced a storm that shook them to the core. Focusing on the problem they woke up Jesus and told him: “We are going to drown!”
If we want to beat fear we need to remember that no matter what comes our way Jesus is with us, that He is greater than any challenge in our lives, and that we have enough faith for whatever challenge comes our way.
Is there an area of your life that is causing you fear today? Are you focusing on the problem rather than God? Remember that Jesus is with you!
Take a moment to read and reflect on Luke 8:22-25. Also, remind yourself of Jesus’ promise in Matthew 28:20. Faith is the best way to beat fear!
God Bless,
Mike
